Loop Odyssey is a good game.
we truly believe that the developers absolutely nailed their theme: A lone hero who relives the same day over and over again, learning shortcuts and gaining expertise in their path. Within each loop, the hero begins to notice more intuitive and efficient ways to travel.
The game describes this as remembering a branch that you had tripped over before to avoid it on your next run, and so on. The developers made this really feel immersive with the “familiarity” mechanic.
In the game, you’re rewarded for traveling along the same path by decreasing the mana cost spent on tiles moving or using actions, which allows you to access newer loops by trying out different routes. This idle aspect/grind is fantastic and can immerse you in the world.
